The Sun Came Out Today

I wrote this poem in April of 2020; it was one of the first sunny days of spring. Today was one of those days as well, so I thought it was appropriate ...

I would also like to leave you with a quote from Dr. Maya Angelou -

"Be a rainbow in someone else's cloud."

Everyday. YES! Every day, find a way to be a little more patient, a little more understanding, a little more kinder. When you get angry, take a deep breath and exhale slowly. During this breath, think, "Is this something I should be angry about?" Anger is a valid emotion, and, of course, everyone is allowed to be angry. Just don't live there. Sitting in anger without actively doing something about it seems like wasting "rainbow moments."

Be more patient, understanding, and kinder; I do not mean only with others. Include yourself in that list. Give yourself a break. Maybe you could be a rainbow in your cloud sometimes. There is nothing wrong with that. We are typically harder on ourselves than we need to be. So go ahead and give yourself a high five for getting through the day. We all have those moments, and we all deserve some sunshine.
